What is ECYD? How is it defined?

ECYD is an international Catholic association of adolescents who make a pledge of friendship with Christ and with each other to build up a new world according to the Gospel. In ECYD we find the same spirit and the same identity among our members around the world.

All of us live the same spirituality, the same loves, and the same ECYD life with its five elements (life of prayer, formation, apostolate, team life and accompaniment).

How is it done?

This diversity is deeply united and rooted in our pledge of friendship. The pledge of friendship is a free and personal response to the invitation of Christ to be His friend and apostle, and which is at the same time a pledge of friendship with members of ECYD around the world.

It’s a pledge which is expressed in a way of life and is incarnated in many nationalities, cultures, personalities that enrich our ECYD lives!

“To live ECYD is to experience a charism that is then incarnated in a lifestyle and mission.
It is the joy that springs forth in the adolescents when they discover that they are loved and called by Jesus Christ;
it is the initiative and creativity enkindled inside when they know they are engaged in a great mission in the light of eternity;
it is what happens within when they understand that an authentic and attractive Christianity can be lived, thus leaving a deep imprint in today’s world;
it is the strength given by being part of a group of friends who share the same ideals, and above all their faith.”
